The Southern Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium is an alliance of palliative care service providers that aims to support improvements in the integration and coordination of palliative care services. The Consortium includes services that work in the community (caring for people in their homes), in acute settings (caring for people in hospital) and in inpatient settings (hospices and palliative care units).

Palliative care is care provided to people of all ages who have a life limiting illness, with little or no prospect of cure, and for whom the primary treatment goal is quality of life.

Program of Experience in Motor Neurone Disease 2018

This is a unique opportunity to undertake placement with Calvary Health Care Bethlehem and Motor Neurone Disease Victoria. Participants report an increased understanding, skill and confidence in the management of people with MND in a palliative care setting.

The placement takes place in the second half of the year to be completed by the end of October 2018. Successful applicants will negotiate placement dates and learning needs directly with host agencies and these dates are flexible.
